In the court of adverse administrative actions

Not completely off topic, the Army Times reports:

Soldiers are dangerously starving themselves, gobbling diet pills and laxatives — even going under the knife in costly liposuction surgery — all to meet the Army’s weight standards and avoid losing their careers.

The more rigid enforcement also tends to show up when it’s time for a draw-down.

I wonder if this applies to Reserve and Guard soldiers in the same way as the Active Duty soldiers. Each time I had to go on active duty these requirements disappeared only to show up again in peace time.

I don’t disagree with the fact that soldiers and marines (sailors not so much) have to be fit and able but there is a long history of inconsistent enforcement that makes me wonder what the real issue is.

I know my wife wishes I was still under the gun on this issue 😀
